What “Sponsored” Means Here
A plain-language guide to every commercial label on this site, what each one does and does not imply, and what we refuse to sell.
The short version
If somebody paid for it, it says so at the top, before you read it. It has no staff byline, it is kept out of our news feed and news sitemap, and it is never described to search engines as news reporting. Sponsored does not mean endorsed.
The labels
SPONSORED
A third party paid TokenPR to publish this. The advertiser had control over the message. Our newsroom did not write it, commission it, fact-check it or endorse it. Where the advertiser is named, you will see their name in the disclosure banner.
PRESS RELEASE
Supplied by the issuing organisation and distributed by TokenPR as a paid service. It is the issuer’s own announcement in the issuer’s own words. We do not verify the claims in a press release, and publishing one is not a statement that we believe it.
What we check even on paid content
Paying us does not buy an absence of standards. We refuse commercial content that:
- makes price predictions, return promises or any claim of guaranteed profit;
- promotes a presale or token sale;
- presents itself as independent journalism, or asks us to drop or soften the label;
- makes claims about a partnership, licence, audit or listing that has not actually happened;
- targets or disparages an identifiable individual;
- would be unlawful in the markets where we operate.
We turn down work on these grounds regularly. It is the reason the label is worth anything.
Links in commercial content
Outbound links inside sponsored content and press releases carry rel="sponsored", which tells search engines the link is paid. This is applied automatically at publication and cannot be removed by an advertiser request.
Affiliate relationships
TokenPR does not currently run affiliate monetisation in editorial articles. If that changes, this page will change with it, and any affiliate link will be disclosed at the point of the link as well as here.
How we handle advertisers in the newsroom
Buying sponsored content does not buy immunity. If you advertise with us and later become the subject of a news story, we will report it, and we will disclose the commercial relationship inside that story.
Questions
If anything on this site looks commercial but is not labelled, tell us: editorial@tokenpr.net. We treat that as a serious defect and will fix it publicly.
